The other day I came accross a story by Peter Wright about how he had recently quit his job, and left the world of Microsoft to code Ruby, Python and Perl on a Mac.  It was a great story and well written.  I think what hits home the most is what he calls 'day-coders'  These are the drones that somehow managed to work their way into a programming posistion, but have no drive to do more than the bare minimum.  I've experienced a lot of this lately.

Anyway, I like this story so much I added his feed to my google homepage, and noticed his latest article, the Passionate Programmers Manifesto.  I really enjoyed it and thought you might too.

I just read this as well, it was heartening. For me it helps to be reminded that there are other people who see great value in code. I love to program so much that it's actually a part of my Christian faith, so it makes me sad whenever I meet a day-coder who's .NET certified and has no real aspirations beyond that.
